1 - Château de Jehay
This castle, with its architecture that is unique in Europe, is a listed part of Wallonia’s outstanding heritage! Between major historical facts and anecdotes, discover the history of this outstanding building and its sumptuous collection of furniture. Two exhibitions reveal to visitors a fine insight into the castle’s prestigious province-owned collection: “The Jehay Cabinet of Curiosities” and “Treasures from Ireland”.
2 - Exploration of local cuisine
Sample “Le boulet liégeois”, a real jewel of Liege cuisine. In addition, explore the history of the “Confraternity of the Gay Boulet”, a gathering of die-hard boulet fans.
3 - Liège
Wallonia’s leading tourist city, founded by Notger in the 5th century, the Ardent City has a rich cultural and architectural heritage. This is attested by its historical heart, its Slopes of the Citadel and, today, its high-speed train station built by Santiago Calatrava.
4 - The Museum of Walloon Life
This Museum is established in the heart of Liège, in the convent of the Minor Brothers. It takes you through the history of the Walloon territory and its folklore, from the 19th century to the present day, courtesy of some truly unusual antique and contemporary objects. A tour that reveals a modern Wallonia, drawing on its roots and resolutely open onto the world.
5 - Liège waffle
Sample a delicious Liège waffle. Just like Belgian chocolate, the Liège waffle has also made a big impact over the years. Its creation dates back to the 18th century and is reputed to be the work of the wise chef of the Prince-Bishop of Liège, who, for its shape, was inspired by the honeycombs made by bees. At the time, the waffle was eaten savoury and was sometimes a substitute for bread.
6 - Brasserie C
Follow the trail from the cereal field to the glass of beer! During this trail inside the magnificent beguinage where the brewery has set up its vats, the secrets of the making of this delicious beverage will be revealed to you. Sampling of beer produced on site forms a delightful close to this charming exploratory stroll.
