Exhibition - 10 years of La Boverie: Behind the scenes of a collection
Explore 10 years of collections at La Boverie
To mark its 10th anniversary, La Boverie, the renowned Liège museum situated in the park of the same name, is presenting a unique anniversary exhibition that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the museum, focusing on two main themes: rediscovery of the collections and the inner workings of museums. Until 23 August, the exhibition ‘Les coulisses d’une collection’ (Behind the Scenes of a Collection) invites you on an original journey immersing you in the heart of the museum world.
The exhibition brings together nearly 300 works from the City of Liège’s collections. Major artists such as Magritte, Matisse, Picasso and Van Gogh are displayed alongside pieces that are rarely exhibited, offering a fresh perspective on the richness of local and international artistic heritage.
The exhibition goes beyond a simple presentation of works to explore the museum’s various roles. Conservation, restoration, collection management and exhibition design are highlighted to provide a better understanding of the behind-the-scenes workings and the expertise essential to the life of a cultural institution.
Designed to cater to a diverse audience, this exhibition is a cultural offering particularly suited to groups. It combines artistic interest, an educational dimension and the discovery of an iconic venue at the heart of Liège’s cultural life.
