Guillaume Apollinaire Museum
The only museum in the world that is devoted to Guillaume Apollinaire
The Guillaume Apollinaire Museum evokes the poet’s stay in the region and immerses visitors in the artistic universe of the author of "Chanson du Mal-Aimé".
Guillaume Apollinaire came to spend his holidays in Stavelot when he was 19 years of age. His mother, a Polish aristocrat, would visit the casino of Spa. The summer of 1899 had an appreciable influence on his work.
Follow this itinerary and you will gain a greater appreciation of his cult work, through his writings and through the eyes of Picasso, Chagall, Marie Laurencin, Cocteau, Zadkine, etc. You will also learn more about Marie Dubois, Guillaume’s “beloved” from Stavelot, and the former Constant boarding house, which is now the restaurant “O Mal Aimé”, a place steeped in the poet’s spirit.
Since 7 November 2018, in order to commemorate the centenary of the poet's death, the museum's scenographic journey has been completely redesigned and enriched with new elements!
