A Cistercian retreat in the heart of the Pays de Herve

A spiritual landmark for pilgrims, the Cistercian abbey of Val-Dieu, whose origins go back to the 13th century, is the confluence of Bel and Berwinne in the beautiful region of Aubel.

Discover during a guided visit inside this impressive building which is the only abbey in Belgium that survived the French Revolution. This will allow you to better understand the important places of the monastic life, such as the chapter room, the refectory, the scriptorium and the abbot district.

The Cistercians, specialists in agriculture, managed to maintain this site with its beautiful park by creating an oasis of greenery. The opportunity to walk after the visit of the Abbey and admire the 17 remarkable trees part of Walloon heritage.
