A Renaissance jewel with 300-year-old orange trees

A hint of Versailles in a grandiose setting! A site classified as a Major Heritage of Wallonia, this château on the banks of the Meuse is nestled in a magnificent hilly setting.

Constructed on the ruins of an old castle that was destroyed in 1554, this construction was initially a Renaissance-style manor house before being extended and modified in the 17th and 18th centuries.

This former summer residence of the Dukes of Beaufort-Spontin has a refined and multicultural interior. Its pleasant lounges have been furnished and decorated by the many generations that have lived there.

Influenced by the work of the landscape gardener Le Nôtre, who notably worked at Versailles, the gardens at Freÿr will astound you with their beauty and their perfect layout, as well as with their superb three-hundred-year-old orange trees.

Get lost in the mazes, which comprise magnificent straight pathways, admire the melodious water fountains, or daydream at the foot of the charming Trianon. The luster of the gardens offers a magnificent contrast with the wild appearance of the wooded hillsides and rocks.
