The capital of Belgium’s German-speaking Community

Located on the Vesdre, Eupen owes its prosperity to the textile industry. This city, which is also the capital of Belgium’s German-speaking community, boasts numerous historic monuments and Baroque houses, as well as many churches and fountains.

This German-speaking city is very dynamic, with numerous events organized throughout the year, magnificent shops for shopping lovers, and renowned restaurants that showcase the local gastronomy and terroir.

Two exceptional natural sites in the immediate vicinity

Just a few kilometers from Eupen is the Haute Fagnes-Eifel nature park, which is undoubtedly one of the most famous natural sites in Belgium.

Covering some 5,000 hectares, this preserved natural space offers numerous walks through constantly-changing landscapes, which comprise forest areas, valleys and rivers, meadows, hedges, and picturesque villages.

You can also cool off in Eupen lake or visit its impressive dam. This construction is also called “Vesdre dam” and is 63 meters high, offering an exceptional view of the region.
