Art, history, and culture in a former monastery

The Malmundarium is not a simple reminder of the past, it has become the historic and tourist heart of Malmedy! Founded in 648 by the Bendictine monks, this former monastery has become a major tourist attraction in the Eastern Cantons covering 3000 m² and presenting the history, folklore and ancient industries of the region.

The information and documentation center, the “Mon’Art” gallery, the cloister and the courtyard, the leather workshop, the carnival workshop, the paper workshop offering a demonstration of production on request, the cathedral’s treasury or even the Historium which retraces 14 centuries of history, there are so many spaces that allow you to discover the past and present of Malmedy and its region.

Although this interactive and fun museum tour represents the highlight of the visit, don’t forget to admire the beauty and architecture of the buildings which have been superbly restored.
