Préhistomuseum
Go back in time as a group and experience Prehistory
Enjoy a unique immersion experience in the heart of the Flémalle forest, near Liège! Located on an authentic archaeological site, the Préhistomuseum offers you ‘The Sapiens Experience’. This sensory, fun and educational adventure, suitable for all ages, will bring our ancestors’ everyday rituals back to life.
Accompanied by your guide, embark on ten action-packed trails, including exploring the Ramioul cave, handling a bow and spear thrower, lighting a fire and deciphering the traces left by our ancestors. Here, you don’t just look at prehistory, you experience it!
These different adventures are divided into three main themes and help us understand our origins, our connection to nature and our unique talents:
- Our roots: explore the labyrinth of evolution (Sapiens and their ancestors), walk through the Ramioul cave (nomadic Sapiens), become a prehistoric hunter (hunter Sapiens) or visit the living archaeological exhibition (All Sapiens!)
- Our connection to nature: observe Neolithic plants and animals (farmer Sapiens), discover life-size habitats (builder Sapiens) and reconnect with your senses (Sapiens and nature).
- Our talents for the future: create and experiment with an archaeologist (creator Sapiens), investigate in a research centre (Sapiens under the magnifying glass), or take on a life-size challenge in the Sapiens Got Talent escape game.
Whether you are an association, a leisure club, a committee or a group of friends, there is something for everyone, especially as the Préhistomuseum, recognised as a Category A museum by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, has developed a unique approach combining interaction, experimentation, the joy of learning and sensory awakening.
In addition, each visitor can adapt their visit to their own pace with maps, QR codes and audio guides. The Préhistomuseum is much more than a visit: it’s a collective exploration of our origins to gain a better understanding of the present... and imagine the future... at the heart of the forest.
