Théâtre de Liège
A heritage gem in the City of Liège
Located at the heart of the city of Liège, the Théâtre de Liège plays a central role in terms of artistic creativity.
The Théâtre de Liège is made from wood, concrete and glass and spans a total area of 7,800 m², combining Neoclassicism and contemporary design. Columns, moldings and gilding share space with ‘Vitra’ furnishings by Jean Prouvé, a famous French designer, creating a refined and warm ambience.
The architecture is punctuated by text by the Liège visual artist and performer Patrick Corillon, whose ‘magic words’ bring the entire building to life.
In terms of theatre, the rich and varied programme encourages you to discover around forty shows, including ten original pieces, each season. Original shows are put together by directors and choreographers from Belgium and abroad, and are performed by internationally renowned actors, such as Isabelle Huppert, Mélanie Laurent, Emmanuelle Béart and Denis Podalydès, and up-and-coming artists.
