Cultural city walk
- 1 day
Description“Cultural city walk”
Spend a day discovering Liège and its exceptional culture and heritage.
This one-day excursion has been specially designed for groups traveling by train (or coach) who prefer more independence when it comes to tours, while still benefiting from the advice, recommendations, and anecdotes of a professional guide.
Your excursion will begin in the luxurious setting of the modern and futuristic Liège-Guillemins TGV station. This masterpiece of grandiose architecture was designed by Santiago Calatrava, the renowned Catalan architect. With its glass and metal vaulted ceiling, this icon of the city attracts myriad tourists and photographers, making it the most photographed monument in Liège.
Then, a unique exhibition that highlights the unique personalities of the women of the Rothschild family awaits you at the Boverie museum. These women were collectors, builders, patrons and heiresses and made significant contributions to the enrichment of historical heritage and collections in French museums through their generous donations and legacies. The exhibition retraces the tastes and personalities of these exceptional women over an itinerary of more than 2,000 m² and through more than 350 pieces. The itinerary includes pieces from across time periods and styles.
After strolling around Parc Boverie, spend lunchtime at Union Nautique. Boasting a great location on the banks of the Meuse, this establishment boasts a huge terrace with an exceptional view over the banks of the Ardent City. This restaurant's welcoming setting is ideal for a well-deserved lunch break. Then head back to the city center, enjoying the amazing views offered while strolling along the banks.
For the next stage of your afternoon visit, two new options are on offer. Depending on your interests and preferences, you can choose to discover the collections at the Museum of Walloon Life or take a stroll through the historic city center.
Before catching a train from Liège-Saint-Lambert train station, round out the day by tasting an authentic Liège waffle at the gourmet 'Une Gaufrette Saperlipopette' store.
Duration: One day.
