DescriptionThe Eastern Cantons reveal themselves through their culture, heritage and gastronomy. Explore them on this two-day tour
The Eastern Cantons offer a highly diverse range of tourist attractions, making them undoubtedly one of the most popular tourist regions in Belgium. We invite you to spend a couple of days exploring this region, which is particularly rich in heritage, culture and gastronomy.
Throughout your stay, you’ll be charmed by its many assets, which undoubtedly stem from its proximity to Germany, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, this “cultural mix” giving it a variety almost unrivalled by other destinations.
This tour will start with a visit to the Radermacher Distillery, the oldest in Belgium, whose success lies in its unique ancestral know-how. After a tour of the facilities, you’ll even have the opportunity to take part in a tasting session. You will then return to the coach for a short 30-minute drive to the Grain d’Orge Brewery, where you will continue this wonderful day. After enjoying a home-cooked meal made with local produce, you’ll learn more about this microbrewery that has become a small brewery, producing a variety of 10 beers. The day then ends in Eupen, the capital of Belgium’s German-speaking community. You’ll enjoy the attractions of this charming town, which owes its wealth to the textile industry and boasts a number of historical monuments, Baroque-style mansions and numerous churches and fountains.
The second day begins with one of the highlights of the region: The High Fens. On a walk or in a horse-drawn carriage, you can explore the exceptional nature and unique biotopes of Belgium’s largest nature reserve. After visiting one of the region’s famous breweries the day before, you’ll move on to a second, the Belgium Peak Beer Brewery. In the tasting room, you can sample one of the delicious dishes concocted by the chef before taking part in a guided tour that will explain all the secrets of beer, followed by a wonderful tasting.
Last but not least, take a trip back in time to Reinhardstein Castle. Enjoy its impressive strategic position and wander through the armour, paintings, chests and tapestries of yesteryear on a guided tour lasting around an hour.
